I also should have mentioned the local Perl Mongers group. Lots of big names attend this group. They’re going through a transition in leadership right now. In fact, there is a meeting on 12th of April at Free Geek. - http://portland.pm.org/kwiki/

I was just looking at the PDX Web Innovators wiki and thinking to myself “someone should compile a list of all of the tech groups in portland…” Then I click, and here it is. Since there’s a few language-oriented groups on that list, you might want to add PDX PHP (http://www.pdxphp.org)
